The UF Young Entrepreneurs for Leadership & Sustainability summer program gives college bound high school students the opportunity to live, work, eat, and play on the campus of the University of Florida for five weeks each summer while learning about entrepreneurship and social entrepreneurship, being inspired to solve social problems, and practicing sustainability. We empower students to become leaders and changemakers.
2014 marks our 8th year. We now have nearly 275 Alumni (from 2007 - 2014), many of whom are now undergraduates studying at UF, some have graduated and are launching their own ventures, attending grad school, and are making a positive impact in their communities. We are thrilled that 4 of our 5 interns this spring were YELS Alumni and this summer's Program Leader is one of our Alumna from 2010. We love hearing about the accomplishments of our Alumni!
YELS 2014 will conclude in July with our Awards Lunch Celebration where almost 200 guests gather in the Presidents room of Emerson Alumni Hall recognizing the achievements of our 40 students. We are excited to see them return to their communities inspired, informed, and empowered to be leaders & changemakers.
We are sponsored by the Innovative Sustainability & Social Entrepreneurship Initiative of the Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation in the Warrington College of Business Administration at the University of Florida. Due to the generosity of our many supporters and friends, we are able to offer full and partial scholarships to students who would otherwise be unable to afford this life-changing experience.
